Why we think Lake Garda is better than Lake Como

Both Lake Garda and Lake Como have their unique charms and are stunning in their own right. We personally love Lake Garda and encourage our clients to stay there. While Lake Como is known for its glamorous resorts and villas by the waterfront, along with beautiful towns and breathtaking mountain landscapes, Lake Garda offers a laid-back, rustic, and traditional charm.

Lake Garda, located between Milan and Verona/Venice, is the largest of the Italian lakes. With breathtaking scenery at every turn, it is best explored over several days to fully appreciate its charming Italian villages, which are rich in history and home to ancient Roman ruins. Beautiful towns in Lake Garda worth visiting

Unlike the beautiful, luxurious feel of Lake Como, Lake Garda surprises us with towns filled with historic charm and classic beauty.

Sirmione

Sirmione is the most popular town on the lake, and for good reason. This small resort town is famed for its medieval castle, thermal springs, and lively atmosphere.

Climb the steps of the 14^th-century Scaligero Castle, where you can enjoy magnificent 360-degree views of the town and the lake. Afterward, treat yourself to a relaxing soak in the natural thermal baths.

Malcesine

In Malcesine, you can find another small yet beautiful castle—the hilltop Scaliger Castle, which enhances the town’s skyline with its dramatic presence. The cobbled streets invite you to explore charming shops and eateries at a leisurely pace. For those who love heights, a cable car is available to take you to the top of Monte Baldo.

Desenzano del Garda

Desenzano del Garda, once a holiday resort for wealthy Romans, is now known as one of the most picturesque places to visit around Lake Garda. As one of the larger towns on the lake, it offers numerous dining options and beautiful views of the lake and the distant Alps.

Gardone Riviera

The picturesque town of Gardone Riviera, located on the western shores of Lake Garda, is a treasure trove of natural beauty and cultural richness. History enthusiasts will be fascinated by the Vittoriale degli Italiani, the opulent residence of the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, which is now a national monument.

Garda

Garda, located on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, is the perfect base for exploring both the northern and southern shores of the lake. It is also home to the Santuario Madonna della Corona, an impressive church that appears to be built into the cliff face. Visiting this remarkable sanctuary requires a 2.5 km hike that offers stunning views of the beautiful Adige Valley.
