The Medieval village of Porrona, built during the XII century B.C., belonged for five centuries to two noble families from Siena, the Tolomei and the Piccolomini until 1894 when it became property of Pietro Emilio Targes de Rochefort, a member of the French aristocracy.
Today Porrona is a charming village where still live few local people. The once abandoned buildings have become a part of the private property which has been refurbished into a 5* boutique hotel.
